Maria Shriver's "We Connect"
Ground Floor Public Affairs was hired by California First Lady Maria Shriver to
organize the statewide “We Connect” Program. GFPA managed four statewide
events that brought together non-profits, businesses, governmental entities, and
volunteers in order to streamline financial benefits for working families. By creating a
one-stop shop for services, such as food stamps, tax filings (in particular the
Earned Income Tax Credit), and low-cost energy assistance, the “We Connect”
community events were able to provide families with vital and essential resources.
Working directly with the First Lady, GFPA organized all the logistics and media for
the four statewide events, which were held in Los Angeles, Sacramento, Fresno,
and San Francisco. By bringing together companies and organizations from all
sectors, GFPA created four vibrant events that assisted working families while also
bringing media attention to an important issue.
